Welcome to Baltimore Roofing & Remodeling, a company built on a family legacy of craftsmanship that spans well over a century. Our roots trace back to 1885, when Robert Edward Kirkner founded the Pulaski Tinning Company in Pulaski County, Virginia, specializing in roofing, gutters, metal work, and heating and cooling. It established a tradition of quality and expertise that would be passed down for five generations, beginning with his son, Robert James Kirkner, who operated the company until 1969.
This spirit of building and service continued, and in 1969, Albert Landis Kirkner launched Al Kirkner & Sons Homes, Inc. This venture soon evolved into the renowned ABAR Homes, Inc. Under the leadership of Albert's three sons — Albert Lee, Benny Robert, and Richard Michael Kirkner — the company flourished, building several thousand homes throughout Carroll County, Maryland, and the surrounding areas and cementing the Kirkner name as synonymous with quality construction.
That deep, hands-on experience in building homes from the ground up forms the bedrock of Baltimore Roofing & Remodeling. Simply put: we're not just a company, we're the latest in line of a storied institution.
Our Story: Five Generations of Master Craftsmanship
Carrying the torch now is Brian Michael Kirkner, our Chief Executive Officer. Brian, drawing on the expertise passed down from his grandfather, father, and uncles at ABAR Homes, founded Elite Energy, LLC, a company dedicated to home improvement contracting. Honoring his family's legacy, the company was rebranded in 2014 to ABAR Home Improvements, LLC.
In 2021, the company relocated, embraced its new community, and became Baltimore Roofing & Remodeling — a name that reflects our focus on specialized, high-quality service for homes and businesses in historic Baltimore and beyond.
Our family was roofing houses and businesses before there were cars on the road. Our family roofed through the Great Depression and two World Wars. We are still here. Roofing Is Our Heritage, Quality Is Our Tradition Since 1885 is not simply a catchy slogan. It's a daily celebration of our family's history, and we will continue being here to serve a region we have served continuously for five generations.
